About Us
Goightly Borzoi was established in 1992, with the purchase of a
two year old foundation bitch,
Petroushka's Anya. Anya's
parents were from the internationally famous Rising Star Kennel. Anya
was a lovely, powerful and sweet tempered bitch, with exceptional
movement, and a long tail to set off her blonde and white coloring, she
was the fulfillment of a life long ambition to obtain a Borzoi.

I had fallen in love with Borzoi as a child, always watching for
images in art or advertising, and reading all the information I could
find on them. In the meantime, I raised and trained sled dogs, a
German Shepherd, an
Irish Wolfhound-Afghan Hound cross, cats, cows, horses, and even a
chicken
that rode on my shoulder while I bicycled thru the countryside.

Anya broke her rear leg when our Rottweiler mix spun and bumped her into a car coming in our driveway. I had scarcely begun to figure out the dog show game, and spent the next three years studying male borzoi to find a compliment to produce my first litter in 1996. That was FCI Int'l Ch V'Indra's Irek JC. {link to photos/pedigree]
My husband Philip, is very much a part of Golightly Borzoi and Mosaic Whippets, helping with socializing puppies, maintenance and building the 320 square foot house that puppies are raised in! Thank you, dear! It's wonderful! The best part is the puppies 'housebreak' themselves due to the design.
From this beginning Golightly Borzoi has developed from an interest
in
Borzoi into a heartfelt passion for Borzoi, respecting the history from
Russia, the country of origin, and a true appreciation for the breeders
of the lines behind my Borzoi, and an admiration for many other breeders
of this unique sighthound. I hope to have a positive impact on the
breed, both thru careful breeding and being a good mentor to those who
are in my circle of
friends. (Even those non-Borzoi dog fanciers !!) I am active in
fighting bad
legislation that affects dog owners and breeders.
